The airline has made plans to cut 9000 positions from the 60,000 that they already have. Now, this doesn’t come as a surprise since we have been seeing it happen all over the world with different airlines choosing to cut down their workforce in light of the pandemic. In total, that means one of the worlds largest employers of pilots will be laying off a total of 1,400. They’re still finalising their redundancy plans, and not much is known about what the staff will be getting from it whether they’re being paid out. It would also be a very nervous time for most of their crew who have moved to Dubai to work with the airline. I can’t imagine what they must be thinking about, especially when they might have to pack back up and return home.
